An almost intact Roman city
My boyfriend and I love touring Europe and visiting archeological sites. We've only recently managed to visit Herculaneum. It was amazing! The whole city is almost intact! The streets and the roof-topped buildings, the marble floors and mosaics, and even some wooden furniture managed to survive. I highly recommend the Herculaneum Tickets, as they provide an audio guide with the story of the volcano eruption!
Impressed by the visit to Herculaneum
I was positively shocked at how well it is preserved. Thanks to the helpful audio guide, I learned much about specific buildings and their features. I was most impressed by the findings in Villa dei Papyri. It's remarkable how scientists today can even read these papyrus scrolls. An extra bonus of the Herculaneum Tickets was the skip-the-line access, so I didn't have to wait to get in.

A WHOLE TOWN PRESERVED BY LAVA
Pompeii and Herculaneum have had the same fate. Both were victims of the volcanic eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 AD. Herculaneum is a much better-preserved site, though. This is due to the proximity of Mount Vesuvius, which filled Herculaneum with fast-flowing lava from the ground up. The lava supported walls and roofs as it encased them. This resulted in an almost complete preservation of some buildings!
DISCOVER ANCIENT ARCHITECTURE AND ART
With your Herculaneum Tickets, you can see the House of Neptune and Amphitrite, named after the most well-preserved wall mosaic found in Herculaneum, which shows the sea god Neptune and his wife, Amphitrite. It was made two thousand years ago! Another impressive feature are the completely preserved wooden elements. Beams, racks for keeping wine, and a decorated wooden partition all managed to survive almost intact. You can learn more about Romans with our informative multilingual audioguide!
ROAM AROUND THE VILLA OF PAPYRI
See the largest known aristocratic villa of the ancient Roman world–the Villa of Papyri! Some believe it was owned by Julius Caesar's father-in-law. It was named after the large collection of charred papyrus scrolls found here. Modern scientists are applying various high-tech methods to actually read their contents. The villa features more colorful Roman art. Feel free to roam around while you listen to the fascinating details of the place from your audioguide.
ENTER THE CENTRAL AND THE SUBURBAN BATHS
Discover the best-preserved Roman baths in existence–the Central and the Suburban Baths. You can admire beautiful mosaics featuring motifs of dolphins, octopi, squids, and other sea creatures, as well as a splendid mosaic of demigod Triton, son of Neptune and Amphitrite. Your helpful audio guide will provide you with intriguing details about these almost intact ancient Roman buildings!
